Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan
Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan boasts spectacular, colorful sandstone cliffs with various heights up to 200 feet. The groundwater carrying minerals seep through the cracks and leaves behind a stunning array of colors, worthy of an abstract art composition. We took a very informative cruise from Musining to view the cliffs (afternoon lighting was perfect); reservations in advance are recommended - visit Pictured Rocks Cruises for more information.
In addition, this is a popular area to kayak - we would have loved to taken the whole day to explore the cliffs and caves that this park offers. We had a one-night stop in the area, otherwise we would have explored the beaches, sand dunes, and the various trails within this beautiful park.

Our Rating: |
5 on the “We’re going to miss this place” scale. While the town was lovely, and the park had a lot to offer, we would have not spent more than a few days here... |

Musining/KOA Pictured Rocks KOA Journey Review: Bonus for the close proximity to the town and National Lakeshore park. However, the sites were not level and it was very wooded, which meant that at time of year we visited (late spring), we were inundated with mosquitos. Probably would have been at any other RV site as well. |
