Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan
Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan boasts spectacular, colorful sandstone cliffs with various heights up to 200 feet. The groundwater carrying minerals seep through the cracks and leaves behind a stunning array of colors, worthy of an abstract art composition. In addition, this is a popular area to kayak - we would have loved to taken the whole day to explore the cliffs and caves that this park offers. We had a one-night stop in the area, otherwise we would have explored the beaches, sand dunes, and the various trails within this beautiful park.
